{"id":12822,"date":"2023-10-31T00:00:08","date_gmt":"2023-10-30T15:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sasugacommunications.com\/ja\/?p=12822"},"modified":"2023-10-30T17:29:26","modified_gmt":"2023-10-30T08:29:26","slug":"9-things-to-do-when-youre-not-feeling-your-best-and-2-to-avoid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sasugacommunications.com\/ja\/9-things-to-do-when-youre-not-feeling-your-best-and-2-to-avoid\/","title":{"rendered":"9 Things To Do When You\u2019re Not Feeling Your Best (And 2 To Avoid)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What do you do when you\u2019re feeling down?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How do you handle your own negative thinking or low energy?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I take time to acknowledge how I\u2019m feeling and consider the cause (so that I can do something about it if it\u2019s within my control).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then, here are 9 things I find effective to lift my spirits.<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b><i>Asaburo<\/i><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; a Japanese-style morning bath feels like such a luxury to me &#8211; it reminds me of a relaxing <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">onsen<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> trip<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b><i>Danshari<\/i><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; cleaning, tidying, and especially decluttering always give me a sense of satisfaction and an energy boost.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Singing<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; I love that we can create instant karaoke in our own homes through YouTube music videos with lyrics (current favorite is Shallow by Lady Gaga!)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Dancing <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; even a few minutes of waving my arms around and swinging my hips helps me to start feeling more upbeat &#8211; lol!\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Journaling<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; getting it out of my head and onto paper helps to slow (and often stop) the thinking and gives me a chance to look at it objectively, remembering, \u201cDon\u2019t believe everything you think\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Walking <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; being in nature &#8211; <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">shinrinyoku<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; is my favorite, but any type of movement outdoors feels good to me<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Yoga<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; YouTube has so many options for short, long, rejuvenating, and relaxing yoga sessions that you can do anytime, anywhere<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Napping<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; I used to feel guilty about napping, but I\u2019ve realized that it\u2019s an effective way to reenergize<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Reading and drinking tea <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; my happy place is the corner of the sofa with a book (or Kindle) in my hand and a cuppa by my side<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are two things that you might be surprised are missing from this list:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Meditation <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; I personally find it challenging to meditate if I\u2019m not feeling good and the negative thoughts have already started snowballing<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Talking with others<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; While I find it valuable to talk with close friends, mentors, and coaches to get their perspectives on difficulties I\u2019m dealing with, when I\u2019m down in the dumps, my negative emotions are usually running too high to really listen to them<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For me, it\u2019s better to do one of the other activities and then meditate or talk with others when I\u2019m a little calmer to start with.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, these are my ideas. I encourage you to choose what you enjoy from the list or something else.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do what works for you \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And, by the way, you don\u2019t have to wait until you\u2019re feeling low to do the things that uplift you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What if they were a regular part of your daily life?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How could that impact you and those around you?<\/span><b><\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What do you do when you\u2019re feeling down?
