(Feel free to ask me if you\u2019re curious about any of them \ud83d\ude0e)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For now, I wanted to highlight the book at the top: Essentialism by Greg McKeown.\u00a0 That\u2019s because this book is probably what sparked my fascination in doing less, but better. I wrote about it <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/sasugacommunications.com\/essentialism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>on the Sasuga! Blog in 2017<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I then came across Do Less by Kate Northrup (I only have the Kindle version), which opened my eyes to creating more ease for high-performing women in Japan (including myself) by aligning our tasks and activities to specific phases of our menstrual cycle (or using techniques to compensate when that\u2019s not possible due to work schedules).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now, in perimenopause and without a regular menstrual cycle, I\u2019m still using this concept in an adapted way.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Incidentally, men can also benefit from aligning with the male hormonal cycle, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=A0eYn4VNMfc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>which I talk about in Japanese<\/strong> <strong>here<\/strong><\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both these books, Essentialism and Do Less, were pivotal in my journey from overthinking and overdoing to less effort and more impact.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You may enjoy reading them or the other books in the photo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What books have made a big difference in your life?<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][\/et_pb_section]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Have you heard of dokusho no aki (\u201cautumn reading\u201d)?\u00a0 If you grew up in Japan, you may remember this from your school days.
