There\u2019s a lot of talk these days about finding the best prompts to get great answers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But did you know prompts can work wonders for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">humans<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> too?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sasuga! Tips For You<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> reader wrote to me the other day:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>\u201cI&#8217;ve been journaling recently and have found your newsletter questions amazing prompts for journaling!\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That was a pleasant surprise\u2014I hadn\u2019t really thought about my writing being helpful for journaling!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re not currently journaling, you might want to have a go.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I struggled with journaling for years. Now, I find it invaluable for exploring thoughts and ideas\u2014and remembering what truly matters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If, like many busy professionals, you tend to neglect your selfcare, you might feel like your mind is constantly racing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Are you often telling yourself, \u201cI have to do this, I have to do that\u201d?<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Replaying conversations that didn\u2019t go well?<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Worrying about what <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">might<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> happen?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Journaling is a powerful way to slow down those thoughts and start making sense of them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><b>Let\u2019s Talk <\/b><b><i>How, When, and What<\/i><\/b><b> to Journal<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b><br \/>\nHow<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some people type their journals. I\u2019ve done that in the past. But I can type fast, so I prefer handwriting to slow down my thoughts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re using a paper journal, you might be tempted to go out and buy a fancy <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">notebook. Have you looked around your home though? Maybe you already have <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">something that you can use? If it doesn\u2019t look so inspiring, you can cover it with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">something more beautiful.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>When<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you want to create a journaling habit, I recommend journaling at the same time each day &#8211; for example after breakfast or before going to bed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Me? I\u2019m a morning person. After making myself a cup of Yorkshire tea, it\u2019s one of the first things I do along with meditating, reading, and reviewing my goals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But you don\u2019t HAVE TO do it every day. You can write more some days than others. Do what works for you \ud83d\ude0a<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>What<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Write whatever you like. Reflect on your previous day, answer a question, or just let your thoughts flow.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here\u2019s what I usually include in my journal:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The phase of my cycle that I\u2019m in (or now that I\u2019m in perimenopause I use the moon\u2019s cycle as reference)\u2014helps me to align and optimize my tasks and activities<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My levels of sleep, energy, and mood and any physical symptoms<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">My word of the year and an key words I want to remember<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gratitude for at least 3 things<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accomplishments from the previous day<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whatever else is on my mind<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One phrase I used for a long time to start my journal every morning was<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhat would make today great would be\u2026\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then I\u2019d write one thing I really wanted to complete\u2014work-related or just for fun. It kept me focused on what truly mattered and gave me a sense of accomplishment when I looked back.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re not journaling yet, why not test it out?
