You may have fewer than six people in your meetings and it\u2019s fine for one person to have multiple roles.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone should have at least one role though. If not, why are they there?<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Facilitator<\/b> \u2013<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Supports participants to\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #7610a2;\"><a style=\"color: #7610a2; font-size: 16px;\" href=\"https:\/\/sasugacommunications.com\/3meetingmusts1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">achieve the meeting goals<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Note taker<\/b> \u2013 Takes notes or minutes to help everyone remember what was agreed in the meeting (also known as the \u201cscribe,\u201d \u201crecorder,\u201d or \u201csecretary\u201d)<\/li>\n<li><b>Timekeeper<\/b> \u2013 Helps everyone to use the meeting time efficiently and finish punctually<\/li>\n<li><b>Contributor<\/b> \u2013 Brings information, ideas, or opinions to help achieve the meeting goals (usually everyone in the meeting has this as one of their roles)<\/li>\n<li><b>Decision maker<\/b> \u2013 Makes decisions in the meeting<\/li>\n<li><b>Challenger<\/b> \u2013 Offers questions or suggestions to help participants consider different perspectives and achieve the meeting goals (also known as the \u201cdevil\u2019s advocate\u201d)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sometimes, the ultimate Decision maker isn\u2019t in the meeting. You may need to make decisions as a group. In this case decision making is part of everyone\u2019s role and this should be made clear at the beginning of the meeting to avoid potential misunderstandings or arguments.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, you may not have an individual Challenger, but encourage everyone to have a \u201cchallenger mindset\u201d &#8211; to think from different perspectives to get the best results.<\/p>\n<p>Are you keen to understand more about how to make the most of each role?
