More than 560 people attended the 25th International Japanese-English Translation (IJET) conference at Tokyo Big Sight on June 21 and 22. Huge thanks to Cathy Eberst and her hard-working committee of volunteers who organized this amazing event.
The conference was a great opportunity to learn more about the translation industry, build business relationships, and have fun.
I had the pleasure of delivering a workshop: Stand and Deliver – Why and How to Present at Translator Events, as well as emceeing two sessions: IT for the Beginner – Tips and Tricks for People who don’t get IT by Graham Chave and Marc Ward of Nexus Translations and Translator Trials and Tribulations – How to Handle the Stress by Yuichiro Ishihara of Dale Carnegie Training Japan. These three titles alone highlight the diversity of topics to choose from out of almost 70 sessions – something for everyone.
Participants could catch up with old friends and colleagues and make new connections throughout the conference and especially during the theme-specific networking lunches as well as at the Friday evening Zenyasai and Saturday evening dinner.
