Having only joined the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan in October, it was quite a surprise and honor to be nominated for the 2014 British Business Awards in not just one, but two categories: New Market Entrant and Entrepreneur of the Year.
The award ceremony took place at a gala event attended by almost 300 people on Friday, November 14, at the Hilton Tokyo Hotel. Upon arrival, I was given a nominee ribbon, photographed, and interviewed. Then I joined the champagne reception.
During the six-course dinner, British band Stone Foundation entertained us, door and raffle prizes were announced, and nominee photos were shown on two massive screens. Great fun!
Huge congratulations to Rhino Rugby Japan, winner of the New Market Entrant award, and Elizabeth Handover of Lumina Learning, winner of the Entrepreneur of the Year award, and as well as to all the other winners and nominees!
I didn’t go home empty handed. The waitress gave me the patriotic red, white, and blue flowers from our table’s centerpiece, I received a goody bag from the Chamber, and of course I took away a big chunk of inspiration.
Many thanks to the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan for organizing such an amazing event!
