Jayne Nakata is the host of the award-winning Transformations with Jayne Podcast and a podcast producer and manager helping more women to find their voice and launch their own podcast.
And I’m thrilled to feature Jayne – last but definitely not least! – in a 4-part series of interviews with inspiring women to celebrate International Women’s Month, following Catherine O’Connell, Tia Haygood, and Ayako Tejima.
I first met Jayne online and we’ve met up in person several times – including to carry a women’s omikoshi together at a festival in her current hometown of Yumoto in Iwaki Prefecture. I LOVED that red lipstick was essential for this!!!
In Episode 125 of The Sasuga! Podcast, Jayne shared these eight insights and more to help you discover the power of being kind to yourself first:
- Take care of yourself first, and you’ll start to see new possibilities for yourself (fact: this is because your brain comes out of “survival mode” where you can only focus on what’s right in front of you – as you relax, you gain a broader perspective)
- You can’t do anything straight out of the gate – whether it’s podcasting, speaking, or parenting – it all takes learning and #imperfectaction
- Learn and practice – how to speak clearly, listen, and then help others
- Keep to your own lane and look around for inspiration, not comparison
- It’s normal to want to go “screaming back into your comfort zone”
- Work on becoming more radiant in any way you can #redlipstick
- Don’t believe that nobody will want to listen to what you have to say. Others will love you even when you’re not perfect – just share you
- Have a morning routine for your selfcare, then deal with family – husbands can cook their own breakfast! 🙂
