The old me was terrified of being put on the spot.
I always wanted to be prepared, so that I could give a good impression.
For example, whenever I gave a presentation, I would refine my script and practice again and again to get it right.
I put sooooooo much pressure on myself.
I’ve since learned that being in my head and focusing on saying the right thing actually distanced me from the people I wanted to communicate with.
I’ve learned that I can make much less effort and have more impact by just being me when I’m put on the spot.
When I trip over my words, people seem to relate to me more.
When I forget what I was going to say, people recognize that I’m human.
In Episode 159 of the Sasuga! Podcast, which features snippets of me being interviewed on The Quarantine Show with Matt Eisenhauer, you’ll hear
- What happened when Matt put me on the spot and asked me to impersonate my favorite Winnie the Pooh character…
- The difficulty and joy of deciding to take a month off work
- How I stay positive
and more!
Enjoy!
