The other day, I was coaching a lovely Japanese lady who’s a working mother and a high performer in a well-known global company.

She said she wanted to relax, but she always has sooooooo much to tackle.

Then she said something that really struck me:

“When I do take a day off and feel relaxed, the payback comes the next day because I have to work harder.”

So she hesitated to even take time off.

I asked other women in my online groups whether they felt the same, and the response was a resounding “Yes!”

Maybe you can relate?

I used to be the same.

In fact, I also distinctly remember some years ago attempting to justify myself BEFORE taking time off:

“Well, I have worked REALLY hard this week, so I think it’s okay to go to Thailand for a couple of days. I’ll have my laptop with me though…”

Why do we feel we have to justify taking time off?

Why do we think we have to make up for it and work even harder afterward?

In Episode 181 of the Sasuga! Podcast, you’ll hear

  • The risks of not getting enough rest
  • 3 questions to start shifting your thinking if you believe you need to work harder after taking time off
  • 4 first steps to start prioritizing yourself for less effort and more impact

Enjoy!
