You’d probably never guess by looking at multi-award winning Tokyo-based senior business lawyer. coach, mentor, and law podcaster Catherine O’Connell, but she’s experienced a lack of confidence all through her life.
As she gave her acceptance speech for her most recent award – Foreign Lawyer of the Year 2022 – Catherine was elated.
But she said the most touching moment was when she collected her checked coat and bag. The female Japanese staff member at the Ritz Carlton Hotel said in English, “I was so inspired by your speech. I was listening in.”
Catherine was so happy because she’s passionate about helping other women to achieve their dreams, and she admired the young woman’s courage to speak to her – in English.
