Do you ever compare yourself to others?
You see colleagues at work who just seem so confident, articulate, and on top of everything?
You see people on Instagram with the most amazing bodies, beautiful relationships, and fantastic lives?
According to a 2022 study, women are more likely than men to suffer from comparisonitis. They compare themselves upwards, with people who seem more advanced in some way than they are. This often leads to low self-esteem.
And it’s especially common in male-dominated workplaces for women to compare themselves to their male colleagues. Even though there’s no gender difference in IQ, research shows that women tend to underestimate their own intelligence and men tend to overestimate it.
In Episode 217 of the Sasuga! Podcast, you’ll hear
- Why it’s normal to compare ourselves to others – even though it’s often not helpful
