– a conversation with Manami Sasaki

Little Manami had a dream. When she was around 7 years old, she saw an announcer on TV and, from that moment, she knew that was what she wanted to be!

When Manami started applying for jobs as a university student, her sole focus was TV stations, so that she could finally become an announcer.

She got an interview – yay!

And was rejected – oh…

And another – yay!

And was rejected again – oh…

This happened so many times.

Then,  exciting news! She made it to the final three candidates at the TV station in her home prefecture of Hokkaido…

… and was rejected.

Manami was heartbroken.

She really wanted to be an announcer, but clearly she wasn’t good enough…

So she applied for an ordinary corporate job.

And immediately got an offer!

But, here’s the thing. Her heart wasn’t in it. Manami decided to decline the offer.

And, eventually, she was hired as an announcer in Yamagata Prefecture. Yay!!!

This story doesn’t end here though. It gets even better and goes global!
