Hello and welcome to Day 7 of the 10 Day Freedom Plan Blog Challenge.

Today’s topic is overwhelm and procrastination.

Now, Natalie says in her video about the instructions for today that very often procrastination is something that happens because we fear success or we fear failure.

So I definitely recognize that for a lot of people around me.

When I thought about it though, I’m not sure that that really applies to me because I very much enjoy success. I especially love success when I’m seeing the success of somebody else that I’ve been able to help in some way. And I welcome failure — I’ve learned to welcome failure and mistakes — because I know that I learn so much from them.

And I don’t have a problem about stepping out of my comfort zone because I always learn so much. So I don’t think that’s a factor for procrastinating for me.

So what makes me procrastinate? I do definitely procrastinate.

I think it’s actually when something is boring and there are so many bright shiny objects around, as talked about in the very first blog post.

So all these things that I want to do, so why would I then want to spend time sorting through those boxes that — the mysterious boxes that — came with us when we moved to our new place in January. Who knows what’s in there? But they’re kind of like just taking up space.

And why would I want to spend time sorting out those plants that kind of well didn’t really survive the Japanese summer very well on the balcony?

Things like these when there’s so much more interesting stuff to do in my Trello board. It’s all listed there, these wonderful interesting things to do, so why would I spend the time to do those things?

That’s how I end up procrastinating.

So what Natalie has challenged us to do is for the next 30 days (!) to take “imperfect action” — that means just getting something done. So I’m going to spend at least five minutes per day bringing beauty back to my home. So finding something to do to make things a little bit more beautiful.

And I started this morning. So I went out onto the balcony and got rid of all of those plants that didn’t survive the summer.

And I introduced this fellow. And he’s just come in temporarily from the balcony right now to be a guest on this blog post! He’s a bit shy.

Okay, so it’s getting silly. It’s number 7 in this challenge. We’re getting close to the end, and I hope you’re enjoying it. And I hope that you can think of ways to take some “imperfect action” to stop you from procrastinating. Bye!
