It’s that seductive time of “New Year, new you.”

The fresh start feeling is so appealing because many of us want to improve ourselves and our lives – be healthier, more confident, more organized, more skilled in our work, a more positive influence on others.

Is that the case for you too?

But, let’s face it: transformation isn’t instant.

You don’t suddenly turn into a completely new you when the clock strikes midnight on December 31 – or, if you’re in Japan like me, you don’t magically change with your last slurp of toshikoshi soba (New Year’s Eve noodles).

Why is change so hard?

It’s because the human brain doesn’t like it!

The primary role of the reptilian brain (the oldest part of the brain) is survival.

The brain likes predictability because predictable means safe.

By contrast, change brings uncertainty and potential risks.

So how is change possible?

Well, lasting change takes time. And it requires consistency.

Unfortunately, many of us lack patience and commitment.

It’s no surprise then that the second Friday in January is known as Quitters Day because it’s the most likely day for people to give up on their New Year‘s Resolutions.

Are you going to set yourself up to quit in 2023?

Or are you going to do things differently – in a way that supports you?

In Episode 208 of the Sasuga! Podcast, you’ll hear

  • The surprising key to make changes with less effort and more impact
  • 4 tips to help you make change easier
  • 4 success stories to inspire you

Enjoy!
